The aim of the training is to train Business Informatics engineers who are able to understand and solve the problems inherent in real business processes in the condition and value system of the information society; for managing IT tasks supporting value-creating processes; using the modern possibilities of information technology to increase the knowledge base and business intelligence of organizations, to model information communication processes and technologies based on cooperation, to regulate and plan processes, to reveal problems, to define the problem area, to develop and operate applications and to supervise the operation according to the required quality. Upon graduation, they are also qualified to continue their studies at Master’s level.
7.1. Professional competencies to be acquired
7.1.1. The business informatics engineer possesses the following competences:
a) In terms of knowledge
- Their command of the English language reaches the level necessary for the training, to get to know the English language professional literature, to understand and process technical texts, and to perform the professional tasks that can be performed with the professional qualification, as well as the level necessary for continuous professional self-education.
- Knows and understands the basic concepts and relationships of analysis, probability calculation, linear algebra, operations research, statistics, and computer science, as well as formal models of routine problems related to the fields of application.
- Knows and understands basic micro- and macroeconomic concepts and relationships, can interpret the data of indicators measuring macroeconomic performance and the relationships between them.
- Knows and understands the company level activity system, the basic concepts of value chain, supply chain, the basic principles of process-based corporate operation, the concept and components of corporate strategy.
- Knows and understands the functional division of the business, as well as the basic concepts and procedures related to value-creating processes.
- Possesses basic knowledge of information systems, understands the organizational principles of architecture, and is able to interpret the components of computing and information architecture in their contexts.
- Knows the basic components of computing infrastructure, the basic structure of hardware components, communication and system software, the areas of data management, including the basic concepts of databases, data processing, representation and visualization.
- Knows the basic characteristics of the different layers of the information architecture (transaction processing, operational support, decision support, teamwork, workflow) and the relationships between them.
- Knows the basic programming structures, the methodology of software development and the most important programming environments in connection with programming.
- Has general knowledge of the regulatory issues and problems of the information society.
- Has basic knowledge of all areas of information management, including the conceptual system and relationships of IT strategy, process management, system development, knowledge management, IT service management, project management, risk management, performance management, IT asset management, IT security and IT audit.
b) In terms of skills and abilities
- With the help of the acquired IT procedures and methods, he is able to explore the operating conditions of the applications in real business and organizational conditions, consider and communicate advantages, dangers, and risks.
- Able to understand and analyse business processes, to prepare and complete the requirements specification of software applications that support implementation, and to perform simpler programming tasks.
- Able to prepare versions of solutions to economic problems, initiate and implement IT support and development in cooperation with business and IT specialists, using the most effective IT solutions.
- Capable of managing databases and solving simple data migration tasks.
- Capable of adapting economic applications, initiating organizational changes necessary for the introduction of IT applications, and cooperating in implementation.
- Able to apply system development principles and methods, use development tools (business modelling and computer-supported development tools).
- Possesses the ability to explore and research problems specific to economic informatics, as well as to find and collect the resources necessary for their solution and management.
- Able to manage the organization's IT department and operates service processes.
- Can explore and identify operational and operational risks.
- Plans and manages smaller development projects.
- Cooperates in the performance of tasks arising in connection with the IT audit.
- Capable of operating economic applications and providing user services.
- Able to resolve IT conflict situations arising in the economic environment.
